Resurrection
Nicky Chiswell

Sun bleached and lifeless, bones of a nation
Down in the valley they lay
God gave them flesh, God gave them spirit
The prophet saw them that day
They arose a mighty army, those who died lived again

Resurrection, resurrection, life is given.
Grace to the death bound from our risen King.
Resurrection, resurrection, sins forgiven
Where is death’s victory, where is death’s sting?

Like a seed buried, Jesus was lifeless
Deep in the earth He lay
That Sunday morning, things changed forever
As He burst forth from the grave
He lay down His life our ransom
He who died lives again

Resurrection, resurrection, life is given.
Grace to the death bound from our risen King.
Resurrection, resurrection, sins forgiven
Where is death’s victory, where is death’s sting?

His resurrection was the beginning
Firstfruits of harvest to come
Our risen Saviour sits with our Father
Pours out His Spirit on us
We who were but lifeless bones
We who died live again

Resurrection, resurrection, life is given.
Grace to the death bound from our risen King.
Resurrection, resurrection, sins forgiven
Where is death’s victory, where is death’s sting?

Resurrection, graves will open!
Those sown in weakness shall be raised in power
Resurrection, day is coming
All eyes shall see Him and each knee shall bow
Resurrection, life is given
Grace to the death bound from our risen King
Resurrection, sins forgiven
Where is death’s victory, where is death’s sting?

'Resurrection' is one of the songs we sang at KYLC, at which the morning talks were on Ezekiel. Such a rich book centered on God's glory!! More about KYLC later, but this song was just really good. Personally, this style of music isn't one of my favourites, but the lyrics, and the strength in this song....an amazing song =) and it really speaks about the core of Christianity !!

the old and young

Such a rainy day today... hehe some nurses were telling each other about how much they're longing for their beds today at the nursing home! It's been good, the nursing home job, been learning quite a bit, even though im no longer being trained up. The other staff in the kitchen are so kind and caring, not only towards me, but especially towards the residents. In the kitchen, our job is to see that all the meals are prepared and dished out, as well as tea and coffee etc. The other staff know the patients so well, that it's not only a matter of giving them the food that's been ordered, but in addition, thinking about which resident needs what kind of nutritional supplement, how a certain resident likes his/her tea, how someone likes their pureed food, which flavour cordial...it's like a huge family! It's been challenging, but rewarding, especially when you go that extra mile. You can either just do something, or do something to the very best of your ability. It's inspiring even, watching the other staff know and care about the elderly people there...watching them love the elderly!!!

Had a pretty good chat with one of the staff members on monday =) During lunch, we began talking about the residents and the nursing home, and then got onto how working at a nursing could be rather depressing because frankly, it's filled with deterioration >.< Then we got talking about the issues of life and death...and it turns out that she's a sister in Christ =) We got onto sharing with each other how the way we view such things as death changed after becoming Christian, how we came to know God, and other experiences. It was awesome!! She's a nice Korean lady who's around 50 years old...and yet...wow =) hehe!

Hehe had a pretty good chat with the head cook during lunch today...she's rather desperate for her son (who's around 24 yrs old) to find a girlfriend =P she's tried hard, and is keeping at it, continually bugging her son and all... oh dear !

Went to ACE yesterday! Really hope i didnt do anything destructive in terms of training the new tutors up >.< After 2 years, some things become almost routine that when it comes to teaching them to other people, it can be rather hard, leaving out certain details, giving instructions in the wrong order, etc. But i guess the essence of a good tutor really isnt about marking and setting work correctly, or even efficiently, or following the right general procedures etc...it's really about caring for the student, laying yourself out, doing things in a way so as to benefit THEM the most, it's all for their development...and it is rewarding.

*yawn*
got up at 5:40am today...was almost late for work stoopid me had to speed, going at 70km/h along beecroft rd at one stage =( grrrr. the head cook got there before i did boooo

tired tired tired...work work work!!!

Better now these past 2 days...thanks for ur support and encouragement!! So weird, i dont remember being physically exhausted so easily...like during exam time my average sleeping time was 3-4am, but i was able to do high-impact aerobics at 2am! And these days since coming back home, i havent had the strength to do aerobics for more than 10 mins >.<

Self-diagnosis: magnesium deficiency. My mum thinks it might be calcium or potassium... perhaps blood tests will tell us hehe!

Went to work today, taking on a new role...training up new tutors! Hmm really do hope i didnt do too bad a job. Time will tell, when they start tutoring =P Two more sessions for them to go then they'll be flying off hehe! Time goes by so quickly. I can still vaguely remember being trained up two years ago...and now...hmm. God is ever so gracious though, to grant us more time to serve and turn to Him =)

Tomorrow shall be challenging! Long to call a couple of people up for a chat, but there's a pile of stuff to do for work tonight. Must get it done tonight! Serves me right for not doing it last night. Couldnt sleep till around 5am (didnt check the clock) last night, not sure why. Was gonna get up and do the work stuff, but i was thinking i'd need any sleep i could get for today so yeah. Oh btw, in case you're wondering, i'm gonna work at a nursing home tmr...hope it'll go well...my first time! Hmm would like to stay there and work for the holidays, but it'll depend on how it goes tmr hmm.

So sick...wonder wot it is. Woke up at 9 this morning feeling really dizzy, with a big headache, and feeling nauseous, and quite cold even under blankets. Took a panadol but couldnt sleep till an hour later, for fear of vomiting. then woke up at noon, tried eating something but felt so physically weak i almost dropped the plate i was leaning on my lap. Then went back to sleep again even though i didnt want to. Broken sleep though...each time i woke up i felt a bit dizzy and nauseous...couldnt even go to Church...literally couldn't get off that couch >.< Hmm mite go see the doctor...really wonder wot it is. If it's food poisoning, stuff would come out wouldnt it? Hmm

It's made me realise a couple of things though. Like being young and relatively free of long-term sicknesses and the like, we tend to do as much as we can without seriously looking after our bodies. We think that it's tough, and is up to anything we put it through. We tend to take our health for granted, i reckon. But we really should look after our bodies. It's frustrating to want to go out and serve but being physically limited, and in the end another day is wasted. It's funny (well not really) how yesterday afternoon i was relatively ok, being able to go to Bible Study, but today getting out of bed was really difficult. We really shouldn't take health for granted, it's such a wonderful blessing from God! And as with some other things, it's only when it's gone do we begin to know what it's worth and treasure it. Keep healthy. Treasure health and youth.

long time no post!

Hmm after not having blogged for so long, thinking i mite write something. Not sure though...havent really had time to simply sit down and reflect yet. Just back from HK!

All in all, HK was a good trip! More details later, but yeah generally i'd say that it was good, with some ups and downs. Seeing my Canadian cousins after not having seen them for so long was definitely a highlight! Going to Ocean Park, which was my favourite place when i was 6 and where i havent been since coming to Aust, was another one...though it was clouded with sickness and food poisoning, and wasnt as great as i had expected.

Hmm was pretty exhausted before i left for HK...and now im feeling even more so. On the plane as we left HK i realised how very tired i am. Hmm...must recover before work and stuff! In HK things tend to be really hectic...just the lifestyle there alone is pretty hectic...and staying in a lodge (in the same room) with my family meant there was no alone/quiet time...time to myself in a room which im used to back home...before going to sleep and all. Was really thankful that God led me to North Point Alliance Church on the sundays i was in HK!!! They were some of my best days in HK actually! And really thankful for my friend who took me to Victoria Park where we shared and encouraged each other briefly in Christ. Thankful too for my friend who took me to the Peak!! Was soooo nice up there!! and so quiet...so peaceful...so different from most other places in HK, esp MongKok!

Anyway more later...gonna go and maybe get some rest!
